The Process

Soft Proofing

We will perform soft proofing on a calibrated monitor to ensure the printed photo matches what is displayed on the screen.

Note: The final result may differ from what you see on your phone or an uncalibrated computer screen. Customers are welcome to participate in the soft proofing process to achieve their desired outcome.

Hard Proofing

A printed hard proofing service is available, allowing you to review your photo in a smaller format before proceeding with larger printing. The proof is printed on your selected media, and the charge depends on the size & paper—please refer to the pricing list. You can choose to have the proof mailed to you (with an additional mailing fee) or collected in person.

Patterned Print

A patterned print can be created on a smaller scale, allowing you to review multiple variations of the provided photo with slight adjustments in color, brightness, and contrast to help identify the optimal tweaks for achieving your preferred look. The pricing depends on the type and size of paper used—please refer to the pricing list.

Semi-gloss print

The paper

The Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl is a high-density, resin-coated heavyweight (310gsm) photo paper with a smooth pearl finish that reduces glare and fingerprints. Its natural photographic white tint provides prints with an authentic photo look and feel, delivering superb clarity, sharpness, and a wide color gamut, making it the ideal choice for gallery prints and professional presentations.

Matte print

The paper

The Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Rag is a premium, 100% cotton, heavyweight (310gsm) art paper designed for professional fine art printing. It features a clean matte surface, no optical brighteners, and excellent longevity, making it ideal for more natural gradations and soft, subtle details. The non-reflective finish enhances the depth and richness of colors, making it perfect for landscapes, fine arts, black & white portraits, and other subjects where a gentle, organic feel is desired.

Note: Due to the absorbent and textured nature of fine art paper, the printed result may appear darker and less vivid.

Gloss print

The paper

The Ilford Galeriie Metallic Gloss offers photographers the ability to print images with a true ‘wow’ factor. The iridium finish gives every image a three-dimensional look ensuring that each print truly comes to life.

The resin coated paper is 260gsm and is suitable for creating display and exhibition prints or alternatively prints can be added to photo albums or portfolio work to create additional impact.

Although the media adds an additional creative angle to portrait and studio photography, it also lends itself perfectly to enhancing mechanical, industrial or architectural images.

Special Media Type

We can print on a variety of paper types upon request, including glossy paper, baryta paper, textured art paper, and washi (Japanese textured paper).

We’re committed to expanding our paper selection in the future, offering more choices with no extra lead time. Additionally, we're working toward introducing large-format printing as part of our services down the line.
